Since the founding of this church on the campus of a university in 1950, college students and young adults have played an integral role in shaping the mission of Aldersgate. Today, college students serve in our nursery, teach our children's Sunday school classes, sing in our chancel choir, greet guests as part of our hospitality team lead worship during our second of two Sunday morning worship gatherings and so much more. Our church would be less without the vital and lively influence of young adults.
L I T U R G Y
is a weekly gathering for young adults and college students. We understand the life and teachings of Jesus to be the crossroads between belief and action. In other words, we want to practice faith, not just have it. We want to practice hope, not just preach it. We want to practice love, not just feel it. We all come from different traditions, carrying within us different convictions, core beliefs, and understandings of the world around us.
LITURGY doesn't claim to be anything other than what it is — an environment in which folks can hear and share stories, sing songs share meals together and work together toward a more peaceful, compassionate world.
Each week, LITURGY features storytellers and artists from around the US. Some of our storytellers are rediscovering faith. Others are moving away from organized religion all together. Some are swimming against a stream of constant judgement because of their skin color, their country of origin, or their identity. Still others have found that the darkness they've experienced isn't the darkness of the tomb but the darkness of the womb.
More than anything the LITURGY community is interested in being a place of healing for anyone who finds themselves in our midst. We hope you can make it out this semester. There will always be a place for you at the table!
