New Covenant Class
The New Covenant Class was born as the "Covenant Class" in 1975, with members who were young married couples. In 1994 we studied what it meant to be a covenant community and committed ourselves to being one, following the biblical practice of changing names when our commitment grew. Since then, we've been the "New Covenant Class". Our discussions range through the Bible, church history, religion and current events focused on individual faith and growth. We remember Mary McCormick's Christmas stories, putting foam in the hymnal carriers, building the playground, the families we've adopted at Christmas, lunches at Chinese restaurants, Christmas parties in February, taco salads with raisins and pecans, and giving up speeding for Lent. There was the practicing prayer at stoplights, the whole class playing hooky, and bonds of love so tight they ache as members move on. Our class fills about four couches on an average Sunday.
